Best iron I ever used!!!
2009-04-21, Steven A. Tobias,
Short and sweet - this is hands down the very best iron I have ever used. The iron stands up very well without fear of tipping over if the ironing board is moved, the removable watering tank is a breeze to fill or empty, the steam and spray quality is unsurpassed and the retractable cord feature keeps the cord in pristine condition!
Almost the perfect iron
2009-04-21, Susie, Vermont USA
I like nearly everything about this iron but think it could have been designed a little better so there would not be a button which annoyingly hits my right index finger as I iron. The button is just where I rest my hand so I have to relearn how to hold an iron after 45+ years of ironing. I like the way the iron works and like the retractable cord. The on/off dial is a little difficult to reach and also the filling is a little bit harder than some irons, but not a big deal. All in all, I am pleased with the iron but wish the ergonomics had been better worked out.
wonderful product
2009-04-12, Cora, US
I just tried this product and I'm in love with it. Using less than 3 water fillings I could iron 7-8 shirts, and 6 big cotton drapes. It has a very long cord and will work better for a right hand person, like me. And the best part? I had a lot of steam coming when I need it.:-) I had a Rowenta DX1900 Effective Cord Reel Iron for the last year and I hated it. I'm so happy right now with my new steam iron!
Greatest iron ever created

Simply super. I agree with all the other reviewers who led me to buy the NI-C78SR.
Only one con to this iron
2009-03-05, Kathleen,
This iron heats very quickly, has good steam, and glides well. I love the retractable cord - have not had one of those before, and it's a nice plus. I haven't bothered with the removable water tank - it just seems like extra work to take it off and put it back on - I'm not sure what the point is. I also like the bright green color. My 25+ -year-old iron was beige. This is much cheerier. There is only one thing I don't like, and I guess I'll get used to it. The dial that turns the iron on and off and sets the temperature is under the handle and, as a result, is very awkward to turn and even more difficult to see. My ancient iron had a sliding thing up on top for off/on and temp, and it was much easier to use. So far that's my only quibble (and the reason for the 4 rather than 5 rating), but it's not a crucial issue.

I have tried some brand of iron before and all of them gave me some level of design and poor quality.
<br />Panasonic is brand name that is reliable with all products.
<br />I am very impressed-great product and very great value.
<br />Thanks one again to Amazon.
glide & hide

The iron just glides very easily compared to others my family has used and we enjoy the convience of the hide away cord.
Great Iron

I puchased this iron to replace my Rowenta. It does a better Job then
<br />the Rowenta, its much lighter and has better temp controll. I would recommend this iron to anyone that has a lot of ironing to do.
Is Amazon really selling brand new items?
2009-04-29, Nitkad, NJ, USA
I am not sure if Amazon is selling brand new products or not. I am buying from them for many years. The packaging is never seals like if you buy the stuff from BestBuy etc. But then also, I thought i might be just bulk product packaging. But, this iron which is suppose to be brand new, had water inside the water tank and the steam pores had already showing the builtup of the minerals.
<br />
<br />As such for the iron, the quality does not seem to be good.

Leaky....
2009-05-18, C. Cullinan, RI
I bought this product with high hopes b/c i associate Black & Decker with quality. This iron is terrible! It leaks water ALL over everything, the ironing board and the clothes. The area to see the water level is basically opaque and its impossible to see. This iron also turns off with some safety mechanism really quick. So while you are arranging another article of clothing on the ironing board this iron goes into safety mode and turns off, and you have to unplug and re-plug to override. Avoid this item!!!
Was a gift
2009-05-01, K. M Merrill, Forest Grove, OR, USA
This was sent as a gift, went fast, and the new owner reports it works great and she is happy. What more do we need? Price was below reasonable.
Very Good!

My daughter irons everything. Lots of denim with six kids. It's a good iron that holds up under the pressure!
Works ok, but the setting dial is small & difficult to turn
2009-02-07, S. Dalip,
I picked this iron up at target. it works fine, but the setting dial is quite small and can be difficult to turn which is a bit of a pain. I'll be returning mine and going w/ a more ergonomic design
Everything you need
2009-02-03, E. Frank,
I don't iron much, I just wanted a functional iron for those times when I do need to get the wrinkles out of my shirts and pants. This iron is a great size, has a good feel, is easy to use, the auto-off is very convenient. It heats up quickly and the steam and spray work very well. I've used bad irons before and this is definitely a good iron, especially for the price.

Poor quality never buy this iron
2009-03-03, M. Mitry, NJ, United States
The iron stopped working within less than one month and only used 3 time and each time about 30 minutes. This is one of the worest product I ever purchased. Contacte Black and Decker and so far no response. Do not waste your money buy a better quality product. Amazon should take this products off their selling lists of product
Good, but not top-of-line
2009-02-22, Steven Johnson, WA
I purchased this iron, thinking it would be the top of the Black & Decker line, which set me up for a disappointment.
<br />This product has many traits that would be expected of a lower-end iron. It will occasionally deposit water drops on your clothes, and, when used on the proper heat setting, will leave a seared shine on your clothes.
<br />The weight of the iron is good, despite a beefy handle. I would recommend the stainless over the ceramic soleplate, though. The ceramic works a bit like a plow, in that you get a bunched up wad of fabric by the bottom of the pantleg. The good news is that the Spray / Shot of Steam functions work really well, and can make short work of the wrinkles you make while trying to iron.
<br />The automatic steam function is off by default, and even when you turn it on, I have found I need to physically shake the iron to get it to start steaming.
<br />The iron has a nice long cord (10ft) which you can easily wrap up and tuck neatly under the handle for storage.
<br />The water fill cap has a rounded "U" shape designed to rest the mouth of a gallon water jug while filling, which works well. The only problem is that the translucent aspect of the water tank is negated, as the "Max Fill" line is at the very bottom of the window while horizontal. Inevitable overfilling results in the excess water rushing out of the fill spout. A graduated container is included in the box for filling from the tap, if you choose to use that.
<br />The controls are easy enough to use, including the Auto-clean, used to purge the water from the tank.
<br />The iron does a decent job, but has definite room for improvement.
Awesome Iron
2008-11-10, T. O. Kelley,
This is a very nice piece of equipment. My wife and I decided to buy a new, nicer, heavier duty iron due to fact previous irons kept leaking water and shorting out at the electric cord.
<br />
<br />This iron has a nice swivel ball joint where the electric cord connects to the iron, with a sturdy, well designed support sleeve at the base of the cord. The steam is either a very powerful burst, (accessed by a push of the thumb), or nice high volume continuous busts of steam. The iron glides over the material smoothly and effortlessly. It only takes one or two strokes and your shirt or pants are ironed. The end result is a nice, smooth garment. It has cut ironing time in one half.
<br />
<br />I would definitely recommend and I would purchase again.
Black and Decker iron - just OK
2008-05-19, Brenda C. Reddout, Florida
I purchased the Black and Decker iron about a month ago and have had several opportunities to use it. I like that it doesn't use a lot of water to make steam, nor generate a lot of heat over the ironing board. I don't like that if you don't know to turn on the steam button, you don't have steam. I don't like that the iron doesn't get as hot as I would like it. I don't like that the cord doesn't retract. My last iron cost about $150. I swore that after that iron broke in less than two years, I would never spend that much for an iron. When all is said and done, this Black and Decker is very close in quality to the more expensive iron, which means that both were just "ok".
easy to use!
2008-02-19, D. J. Wilson, Boston, MA
We replaced a Rowenta iron that had great steam but leaked like a sieve and had electrical cord issues after only a couple of years of use. This iron works well, good steam, good heft and really fast warm up times. The snub nosed end is not as pointy as I'm used to to get in small areas or around buttons but not a big issue. Works great for the price, especially after what we spent on the Rowenta. Some of the electronic symbols are cryptic and we went a couple weeks not realizing the steam wasn't on because the button and the symbol really didn't tell you much.

works great

arrived promptly. looks good works even better. so far it has proven to be a very reliable iron and shuts off as it should if I forget to turn off.
Not good...
2009-05-07, L. Y. Wei, San Diego CA
Pros: Light and it's really gliding when you are ironing
<br />
<br />Cons: It doesn't do it's job at all. Even if i turned up to the max heat setting, I can't even get the shirt iron properly. There were still lines after a few irons, even with steam. I returned the product eventually and got black & decker, which works so much better although it's heavier.
Stick with stainless steel plates
2009-05-05, Dimitri Poursanidis,
I bought this in December of 08 and the sole plate is already ruined leaving residue on my clothes. I use only distilled water in the iron. I'm not going to even bother having it replaced I'm just going back to the stainless steel irons.
Looks nice, but has issues
2009-04-29, s. beaumont,
What an attractive iron. Beautiful on the outside, but the inside needs work. It leaks when the iron hasn't reached a high enough temperature. The steam seems to function when the iron is held upright, yet doesn't provide adequate steam in the horizontal position (used when ironing).
Good Quality, terrible iron
2009-04-28, G. Murphy, Rhode Island
You can tell this is a quality iron, it doesnt feel cheap, but this iron is down right frustrating to work with. It ruined a pair of pants I had because the setting was too high, but that NEVER happened to those pants with my other irons since I've had those pants for years now. Plus I'd like to note that I did NOT leave the iron on the pants..as soon as I touch the pants it singed them.
<br />
<br />Whats worse is there is ALWAYS fabric getting stuck on the iron, no matter how much I clean it just continued to get residue stuck on it. Then when i started steaming the darn iron sprayed brown stuff on my clothes...after that I was thru! In the garbage it went!
