So Far So Good
2009-04-06, Bargain Hunter,
This seems to be a pretty nice iron for the price. Nice pointed end to get in those tight corners, heats up fast, nice steam action and the retracting cord is definitely a plus. I just wonder how long it will hold up. So far it's a pretty nice item.
Why is Ironing Still Necessary?

Bought this iron, the reviews were good. I've only used it a couple of times. It definitely gets the wrinkles out and I like the steam button. I've been very careful of the plastic cap on the water fill area as some said it broke easily. It was heavier than I thought it would be as someone had said it was light. However I had a Black and Decker Light and Easy before and it was very light. I had that for years but the new ones did not have great reviews. So far I am happy with the purchase.
Best Iron Ever!!!

I have gone through numerous irons and purchased a model from this line several years ago. LOVED IT. Had to buy a new one and could not find exact same model but this one seems to be the same, just newer. We have been using it for about a month and it is even better. We iron daily and I sew. Was making drapes when old one quit working. It is the best.
<br />
<br />Now, the flip side is that you almost cannot see the water filling and have to be careful. They could design that much better. And, for some reason, it took Amazon forever to ship this item. But I would not have any other iron and it is worth the wait.

Excellent product, better than my Rowenta steam system.
<br />Nice solid feel.
<br />Steam tube can be changed for left-handed/right-handed users.
<br />Unlike the Rowenta, there is no internal pump which is a problem with the Rowenta.
Great Steam

I really like this iron as I have never had this type of iron with the seperate boiler for the water. You get much more steam this way. My only complaint is it is really hard to not overflow the water since there is no water level indicator.
best iron ever

After years of repeated buying of Rowenta irons (which consistantly died on me), I decided to buy Delonghi Stiromeglio based on the great reviews. I have to say that they were right! It's great, ironing is a breeze, and is heavy enough to give professional results. Highly recommend it!
I love to iron it would seem, due to the prodigious amount of steam

I am the designated ironing machine in our house (Mom taught us boys at a very young age) and though I actually like ironing while watching TV or listening to music, I don't like wasting time. I like doing a perfectionist job but completing 25 to 30 items at a session. This DeLonghi allows me to crank out wrinkle free clothing in nothing flat.
<br />
<br />The only problem I had was the rubber seal that comes with system split the fourth time I used it. I took the seal to the local hardware store and bought three replacements for $1.00 and almost a year later, the first one still feels like new. One functional design I don't like is the inability to see how full the tank is. You have to be careful filling with the funnel, slowing down the flow until you can see the water. Otherwise, over the top it comes!
<br />
<br />The secret to making any steam system work without spurting water is to let the pressure build up. Just because the light comes on, it doesn't mean the pressure is as high as it can be. I fill it and then let it sit for 15 minutes minimum. The very first item is quickly completed with zero water stains. If you iron long enough to use all of the tank, then subsequent refills take about 10 minutes to heat the water to a good steam pressure.
<br />
<br />I highly recommend this steam system, it is great quality, works well and is at a reasonable price. Don't forget to take the seal to a hardware store before you use it, and then you will have a cheap fix in hand should the original seal split.
Great!

My wife says she finally has an iron that works. She says it is 10x better than a regular Rowenta iron we have. Great buy and worth every penny.

Horrible company
2009-04-21, R. Heins,
I had the iron for a year and the electrical system started shorting out. I brought the issue to Rowenta support, who told me to stop using the item because it was dangerous. Since it was a few months out of warranty they would only give me $5 towards another one of their irons. If Rowenta can't guarantee an iron to work for more than a year, you shouldn't invest any money into their products unless you're okay with that.
Good while it lasted
2009-03-30, Handbag Designer, Wisconsin
I received this iron from my MIL for Christmas 2007. I had asked for a Rowenta that wasn't too heavy, since I have carpel tunnel. This iron worked good, but not great. I would have loved more steam. The iron died in January 2009, of course after the warranty period. To be fair, I do iron off and on for hours a day, six days a week, so if you added up the hours of use, it probably lasted a fair amount of time. However I have in the past used inexpensive irons that lasted far longer under the same conditions.
No Germany - No Quality
2009-03-28, S. Zimmer, Southwestern Pennsylvania
This Rowenta model is a big comedown from Rowenta's previous quality. A previous DX1700 I owned lasted about 6 years with heavy usage. The replacement I have now is garbage. The first replacement DX1700 I brought home made strange noises from day one and fizzled out within a week. The second replacement has spit when the vents are wide open from day one and I only chose to keep it because of the hassle of another return. After two years, the burst of steam button is now sticking from constant use because of the other problem. When I noticed that these irons were made in China, not Germany as was the case in the past, I contacted Rowenta to let them know that their quality was suffering. I was told that the facilities they use in China match the quality of those made in Germany. If that's the case, why are the models made in Germany approximately 100% more expensive than the DX1700? All I can say is shame on Rowenta. I'm looking for a new brand.

Happy Ironer
2009-04-13, Wendy S. Reebel, Chicago
I am addicted to freshly ironed sheets. This began after several fortunate stays in high end hotels with lush, smooth sheets. I have spent too many hours striving to achieve this same level of luxury in my own home. I purchased the Rowenta DG8030 to reduce those hours. I am very pleased with the outcome. In less than half the time I spent with my standard iron, I now complete this task with ease.
<br />
<br />For other items, shirts and pants, the Rowenta G8030 takes a bit of patience and care. Using a spray bottle of water helps to achieve a crisp result.
<br />
<br />There is an initial vibration when the motor starts and intermittently throughout an ironing session, but I quickly learned this is normal.
<br />
<br />If you're someone who consistently uses steam to iron to create your desired result, this Rowenta is a winner.

This is actually a present for my wife who does tons of sewing and is a crafter. We kid her as having more material than Wal-Mart. I purchased an earlier brand a few years ago, and she has used it almost daily till it finally quit.. I figured I would update her to a new one, but at the same time felt bad about about disposing of the old one. Well, I took the old one to a local appliance repair shop, and for $50.00 It is as good as new. Now she has a back up or can give it away to one of the kids. Like the old saying goes, "if mom ain't happy nobody is happy."
<br />SHE IS VERY HAPPY.
Feel like a pro at home

First off, I wouldn't even consider using this iron with one of the flimsy supermarket ironing boards....something like the Rowenta IB6300 is much more in order, (it also has a shelf to place the reservoir, very handy).
<br />
<br />Now on to the actual review. We've only had this iron for a couple of weeks, if I experience any nasty longevity issues, I'll be sure to address them with updates to this review.
<br />
<br />Wow, this iron/steam generator is making ironing less of a chore. We'd previously owned the Rowenta Perfect and Advancer irons, both of which my wife sent on one way trips to a hardwood floor, (while the floor survived with large gouges, the irons, unfortunately, did not). After being spoiled with the Rowenta brand, and needing a replacement, we opted for the DG8030.
<br />
<br />This thing is pricey! If I didn't require a large amount of clothes ironed, I'd be more tempted to just take everything to the cleaners. We bit the bullet and haven't looked back since. Ironing creases used to take time and a determined effort. Now it's just a quick pull on the steam button, and you're in business. Need to iron out or adjust a crease? Too easy! I can't vouch for using this vertical with drapes/blinds, but for uniforms and dress clothes, I haven't seen better. Combined with a quality ironing board, (as mentioned above), I've cut down my ironing time by more than half.
<br />
<br />I especially liked the large reservoir and the fact that you can refill it without waiting for the iron to cool down. If you iron often and can manage the price tag, this is it.
Works well but not worth the $?
2009-02-13, John D. Leggett,
I ordered the expert version, since there were so many issues with the 5030. It works well - heats up really quickly, you can see water level and it has a warning light on water level anyway. You can also refill without having to wait for the iron to cool. The long cords are handy. This was my first experience with a steam generator iron and honestly, while it works fine, it is/was a lot of money and doesn't seem all that much of an improvement over a conventional steam iron. The vertical steaming doesn't work too well. After holding the trigger for a few seconds, the amount of steam drops off significantly - not really enough for efficient vertical steaming.
Great advance in features

Twelve years ago I bought the Rowenta DG 050 for a 60th birthday gift for myself. It just expired in the past few months, and I now have the Rowenta DG8030. Love this new model, and the features have certainly improved in 12 years. The steam generated is plentiful, I like the swiftness of the warm up time, appreciate the see thru water reservoir, and again, the cords are plenty long for even this left hander to find it easy to use. The lights on the buttons serve me better. I sew a lot, and steaming each step is important for a professional appearance. I grew up when clothing to be ironed was wet down and put into the fridge til ironing time, and of course it included even items like bras and Dad's boxer shorts. I'm in heaven now with this almost effortless way of ironing. The surprise is I recently found the receipt for the first iron, and the price I paid for the new, much improved version, is almost to the penny the same price I paid for the DG 050 twelve years ago, which means in real money, I got a better deal this time.

Big Disappointment!
2009-05-15, B. Stirling, Bucks County, PA
When I first purchased this iron I really liked it. But less than 6 months after purchasing it, the steam button is no longer working. When I push it down for steam, it stays down and will not pop back up. For the amount of money I paid, I got ripped off in a big way.
Leaked (poured) on 1st usage.
2009-04-05, Lightnin,
About the iron: We only got to try it once - to say it leaked is an under statement. Water POURED out of the seam between the base and the sole plate. Also take heed that it is quite heavy - not good for weak or arthritic hands. We can list no positives since we really didn't get to use it. We have since ordered the Panasonic NI-C78SR and will review it once it arrives.
<br />About Amazon: I have ordered a number of items in the past and have always been happy with the price and results. This is the first problem item, so initially I was concerned about the return procedure. I am pleased to say that it was an easy and no hassle return - all of the procedures were easy to find and follow from their website, including printing of the shipping labels. They issued a FULL refund - no shipping and no restocking fee. Hey Amazon, Well Done.

Did I get a lemon?
2009-02-19, E. Harris, Katy, Tx
This iron disapointed me greatly. It worked for two weeks. Then all of the sudden, out of the blue, it took forever to heat up to number 5 level. And when it did finally heat up, it started LEAKING water all over my clothes. This morning was the last straw, it leaked BROWN water all over my work clothes. Bought it at walmart and got the extra warranty but have NO idea how to claim it. Very disapointed in this product.

Black & Decker D6000 All Temp Digital Steam Iron, Blue
<br />
<br />I bought this D6000 iron direct from Black & Decker, and I have to say, I'm most amazed. For the past 10 years I was using a Black & Decker model...but the steam didn't really come out anymore, and I was using a lot of "Magic Sizing" on my shirts to get them to iron well.
<br />
<br />Originally, I bought a Shark as a replacement, but didn't even get it out of the box before reading the horrific reviews. It went back, and I got this.
<br />
<br />WOW! No Magic Sizing needed and my ironing time is a third of what it used to be. Yup, you really can have steam at all settings. A lot of steam comes out with the steaming option on, and you get a heck of a lot more with the "steam burst" feature. The fact that you can clean all the mineral build up in the steam vents is great. The digital functions make it foolproof to iron. Read the tag, set the temp setting.
<br />
<br />I also do large format photography, and I make albumen prints. I thought the vertical steam function would be perfect for steaming my paper, a necessary step in the process. I wasn't too sold on that (it worked, but be careful of the hot steam), but found that just using the regular steam function without touching the paper was fine.
<br />
<br />The auto off feature proved useful when my wife irons. =) Oh, and the fact that she now irons her clothes is a real testament to how great this iron is!!!!
<br />
<br />Couple cons: Filling the water tank isn't all that easy - would have been nice if it came with some sort of cup or funnel. Also, the tank empties quickly. But I'd prefer that over an iron where less steam comes out any day.
<br />
<br />Do not go for the cheaper, crappy irons. This is the real deal. You won't be disappointed!
