Not my old Sunbeam!
2009-04-27, J. Conner, Texas
I've been ironing clothes for almost 50 years and have never been so frustrated with an iron! I replaced a broken 1996 Sunbeam steam iron with this updated one three months ago. It has never worked right! The temperature dial moves too easily, the bottom plate sticks to clothes, and the constant steam and the steam jet have never worked correctly. Although it is lighter than the Black and Decker Digital Advantage D2030 we just bought to replace this one, the Black and Decker works like I expect an iron to work. Don't waste your money on this iron.
Dripless Iron that drips
2008-09-06, C. A. Bejtlich, Billerica, MA
This iron promises to be dripless, well it isn't. The very first time I used it, it left water marks on my ironing. After about 3 uses, the cap on the refill hole popped out of its position and I had to carefully put it back in. The plastic arm is very fragile. This model has the teflon bottom, however, it is certainly not a smooth, gliding iron-it is more sticky than other irons I have had. Also, the handle gets quite hot after using it for a while. Overall I am quite disappointed in the product and wouldn't buy from this manufacturer again.
Steam iron.
2008-08-05, Alan Salyer,
Like this steam iron, great steam and removes set wrinkles. Much better than a more expensive iron I had. Sort of heavy and takes some getting use to.
Waste of Money
2008-08-04, Einar, boston
From day 1 this iron took forever to heat up. On top of that, the boast of 'no drip' was completely untrue. It drips, drips, drips and sometimes the steam works and sometimes not. If you're into self abuse, buy it. If not, get any other.
Sunbeam 4215 Steam Master Iron
2008-07-18, M. Silvestro, Medford, MA
I really like this iron. It was to replace one that I had for about 5 years. I really like the feature with the retractable cord which makes it easier to put away. I also really like the indicator light on the side which turns red when it is ready to iron. It glides over the clothes when the correct setting is on and does a great job in a short time. I would recommend this iron to anyone looking for a replacement and doesn't want to spend a fortune on an iron that really does the same job as all, irons clothes.

Hurray for good design!
2009-05-05, W. Ramsey, Boston, MA, USA
A well-designed tool is a joy.

The absence of a cord makes all the difference. The iron stays hot long enough and reheats within a couple seconds each time you set it down (NO waiting). The cradle receives the iron quickly and easily. The base stays put on the ironing board and is stable, the retractable cord for the base is stored out of the way in the base. The cover for the whole thing makes it tidy and the handle makes it easy to transport.

It was puzzling why stores in my (large metropolitan)area didn't stock it, since it is so superior. At least it came quickly when I ordered it online.
Pleased as punch!

I'm delighted with our new iron. It's simple to use & works great. And talk about putting out steam! WOW! A great appliance.

If you are like me, and only iron what you wear when you wear it, then this iron is perfect. No cord to get in the way, so you can stand on either side of the ironing board, and no danger of a melted cord!
However, while this iron is great for me, I would not recommend it for anyone who irons a lot at one time. It does not stay hot for very long, and needs to be put back on the heating element frequently.
Cordless Iron

This iron is spectacular! I bought it as a valentines gift for my girlfriend and she absolutely loves it, you see shes left handed and it was hard for her to iron because the of the way the ironing board was set up. The cord kept getting in the way.She loves it so much she irons her clothes a week at a time now.
Luvs It!!!

The first of your two questions are inevitable "it is it heavy enough" Beware - if you want a heavy heavy iron this ain't it - but I got over that quickly - and "how much steam"....all very good, honestly....even speed-pressing-dirty-teenager-denim-jeans-in-the-morning-when-everyone-is-about-to-be-late - they press great. I love this iron - it makes great steam [unless you work as a washer woman who has to press all day] the steam does not run out - it readys very fast and stays hot - you can take it apart and fill it up with water straight from the faucet and not have water run all over the iron like regular models - there's no annoying wire "BEST PART!" plus bonus - its so unusual that it impresses everyone that comes to your house and has never seen one - you can have fun bragging and explaining it.

This iron works great! I had the base model but it started to drip after two years. This one says "no drip" so I am hoping that is the case. It heats up fast, easy to use, swivel cord helpful, very light and it gets the wrinkles out on the first go over. Those are the pro's. The two con's are that you have to fill this iron while it is horizontal. You have to stand the iron back up to see how full the tank is. Minor inconvenience. Also, the cover to the water tank is flimsy plastic. Shouldn't be a problem if I don't mess with it alot.
EXCELLENT IRON

I was given a high-priced Rowenta Duo Pro as a gift, and it was horrible. I did my research and this Black & Decker was well rated so I coughed up the cash and bought this one for myself. This is a great product, and everything the Rowenta is not.
1. The controls are easy to use, and the steam on/off switch is a nice perk.
2. The digital display is easy to read and results in accurate heat for different fabrics (unlike the Rowenta which was too cool at all settings except when turned all the way on).
3. The steam is a fine mist, not drippy (like the Rowenta).
4. The auto-off feature does not engage too quickly (30 seconds if left down and 8 minutes standing, instead of the random and frequent shut downs of the Rowenta), and is easy to override with the press of a button (instead of dangerous and leaky motion detector tilting and unplugging/plugging back in required by the Rowenta).
5. Finally, it sounds silly, but the comfortable grip and ceramic sole plate just make ironing easier--I didn't realize how hard I had to push on the Rowenta and how the awkward grip took a toll on my wrist until I got the Black & Decker. There is a similar Black & Decker iron that costs a little less, but the grip is not a comfortable and it has a stainless steel plate that just doesn't glide like the ceramic. Pay the extra $10 and get this one--it's well worth it!
Sorry I bought it
2008-07-04, Ruth, Houston, TX USA
I bought this iron about 3 weeks ago, and I am so sorry I bought it. I had to decide between this and a Rowenta and selected the B&D because it weighed less. I should have known not to buy anything made in China (the Rowenta was made in Germany)but I was really concerned about the weight. However, the third time I used the iron it spit water spots on the garments. This a major flaw. I cannot recommend this iron. Note: My instruction booklet is for D5000 and D5500. I see no difference in the irons.
light and easy iron
2008-06-12, Karen A. Casso,
I had been using a very popular brand iron for the last few years and wasn't happy with it. I had previously owned another Black and Decker iron so after much research I went back to B & D! This is by far the best iron out there. Light and easy to use. I highly recommend it.
Black and Decker Digital Evolution 5000 steam iron

I am embarrassed to say how many irons I have been through in the past two years...and the frustration. I had used a cordless Panasonic for years and it had been a great iron until it died.

Then the quest began. I first started with a lower end Black and Decker Digital Advantage iron, and initially was happy with it. After using it for several months, I had water boiling out of the steam vents, it would spit leaving water spots, and it was impossible to clean it from the inside out, even following directions. I gave up on that one, and then purchased a lower end Rowenta. Not as much spitting, but it didn't get very hot. I then moved onto a Sunbeam that I initially was impressed with...then the water started leaking out of spray nozzle hole!

I was looking for the Black and Decker Digital 2030 per all of the recommendations from Amazon. I couldn't find one in town at all, and being the impatient sort, I purchased this instead. Obviously this is something that is brand new!

So far so good! It heats up incredibly fast, and doesn't feel heavy at all to me. I do like the swivel cord on this versus the store the cord in the base. I just have noticed that those stop working after a while. It beeps when you are ready to use it, and the digital readout is very easy to see. I may have preferred the one with the Ceramic glide sole plate. We shall see.

Pros: Heats up incredibly fast! While ironing, I have to keep my fingers far away so they don't get scorched from the steam coming out! (I am using distilled water because I am no longer following manufacturer's directions saying to use tap water because my water is incredibly hard.)

Digital readout is large and easy to see.

Doesn't feel heavy to me, even when full.

Swivel cord, and the base rest is rubber covered so it grips your ironing board surface. I really like that!

So far, it just glides right over my fabric. I will be using this a lot because of my sewing, so it will be interesting to see if it still feels this way after a few months of use.

Cons: With the "MAX" mark on opaque for the tank, its hard to see, and easy to overfill if you aren't careful. I think the water container that comes with it fills it to the exact spot you need. The plastic cover "flap" for the tank has a bit of flimsy feel to it. It should be fine as long as one doesn't manhandle it.

You do have to push the buttons firmly on the iron to get it to turn on and off.

Overall, I am very, very pleased with this iron. If this model can keep up with the Digital Advantage 2030, I will be pleased as punch. I will update this review in a few months to see if I am still happy with it. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Euro Pro Shark Steam Station
2009-02-21, Constance Y. Hazzard,
Purchased on Amazon. Com via Antonline. Same model. The Shark from Antonline is not functional. It just Spurts out water instead or in addition to steam. Just soaks the items I'm steaming. It does not heat up as well as my previous one. It is obvious this is not a new steam station. I love the steam station so very much; this is why I ordered it from Antonline, because I could not find it anywhere else. I am quite disappointed.
Euro Pro Shark Steam Station
2009-02-18, P. Barker,
Only ok when compared to the one it replaced. It was a heavy duty Europro about 8 years old. This model is lighter and does not produce the amount of steam I am used to. I doubt if it will last as long the other model. It will have to do since there is no real alternative. Quilter blogs seem to favor it over the Rowenta.
The older model was the better iron
2009-02-05, Jerry K. Yee, San Francisco, California United States
I bought a EuroPro steam iron about 3 years ago, I am still using it and I like it very much. I recently bought this "Euro Pro Shark Steam Station", I don't like it as much. The tank holds the water is much smaller then the older model. I have to wait for the steam after I use it for a while, but not the older model which I never need to wait for the steam. Jerry

I have had the Shark iron for the last two years and it does the best job ever and would never ever change back to a ordinary iron. LOVE IT.

I love this iron......Cuts my time literally in half. Jeans and heavy weight items crease free with virtually no pressing. I wish it were not discontinued. I only hope it lasts a very long time. Read directions carefully......this is not your typical iron.

2008-08-10, Chris,
After my Rowenta stopped working... My wife (who doesn't iron) brought this one home... I was a bit surprised at how light it was... and by the amount of leakage it had... coming from the soulplate and the water fill hole... there is no cover on it so what is to stop it from coming out there? It does keep spitting water and steam when placed in the up right position, so you could say it is a vertical steamer?
