Great Iron!

2008-11-11, Cristina Smith, Bangor, PA

According to my Italian mother who irons a lot, this iron rates an A+++++++ in her book. She had this iron for a really long time and one day it died so she went out and bought an iron that looked similar thinking nothing of it and it did not perform like her Rival IR600-Wn so she asked me to find it for her and I did and since then I haven't heard a word about it which means she's very satisfied and content. So I HIGHLY recommend this iron to whoever is considering to buy it.

good value

So far seems a good product. I do wish it had a "burst of steam" feature though.

Stay away from this one

2006-11-09, A. J. Aceto,

I bought this iron to replace a leaking iron my girlfriend was using. When she tried to use it for the first time she waited over 30 minutes for the iron to get hot enough to use. It never did and I promptly sent it back for a full refund. Amazon was great refunding my money no questions asked. I am a frequent customer of Amazon and recommend them highly....but not this iron. :)

Worth the money spent

2006-02-20, Thiyagarajan S, Lund, Sweden

I bought this iron as I was in need of one and I did not want to spend too much money on it. This product is worth the money paid for it. It does do the steam ironing but I feel the heat is bit lessened because of the presence of water before the hot plate. While for dry ironing, this is perfectly OK

Very Impressed!!!

2009-05-17, M&M Mommy, Pennsylvania

I am staying at a Residence Inn where I have had the pleasure of using this iron and I believe that I'm sold. I love everything about it including the thermocolors, the steamer, the water capacity and it's also light-weight. After the first use, I wanted to iron everything because it made the job so effortless. It quickly ironed out all of the wrinkles in my linen pants and my husbands jeans. The steamer really helped with the difficult wrinkles. I love it and believe it may be replacing my Rowenta at home. I was surprised at the price of this iron because I assumed that it would be very expensive. I hope that I'm able to find one to purchase. I would highly recommend it.

Love This Iron

2009-03-10, Z. Song, SF, CA

Very happy with this iron. Before buying it, I bought a Rowenta Actisteam Iron made in Germany at Target because of very good reviews. But I was not lucky enough. The Rowenta iron got burnt the first time I used it. It happened that I saw the Westinghouse iron at Ross. After reading good reviews on Amazon, I decided to switch to this brand. It only cost me less than 20 bucks at Ross to get it. Now I can say that it is a good product. It heats up fast and its color changing feature just takes you a simple glance to know it is at the right temperature. Its large water tank holds enough water for about 20 clothes. It irons out wrinkles easily and gives out enough steam. What I only expect is the iron could last at least 2 years. Overall, for its price, the Westinghouse iron is an excellent one.

Great on Clothes! Irons out wrinkles

2008-11-03, Ruth E. Silver, Chicago, IL, USA

I love this iron. Mine was purchased at Linens and Things. I can't remember the exact price but I know I paid well beyond the $40 retail that Amazon is showing. I've been 110% happy with the product. The color changing is nice in that you know its at the right temperature and it beeps to let you know as well. It seems to heat up much faster than any other iron I've used in the past as well. I haven't had any trouble with it burning my clothes or leaving stains (some irons I've had issues with). It does everything an iron should. Even my mom took mine from me and I've had difficulty finding another one. She loved using mine that much when I moved home. Lucky me.
I would recommend this product, yes!

My husband and I were buying a replacement iron. This one works great and is at a great price. I would recommend this iron to others.

smmth ironing

2007-12-26, M. Castillo, Crested Butte, CO

So far (in use about 4 weeks), it is a very nice iron. Easy to fill with water and powerful enough to remove the most stubborn of wrinkles. The color change thing may seem a little gimmicky but it is really nice to know the temp of the iron at a quick glance.

And now for a pressing matter....

2008-06-18, Amanda Richards, Georgetown, Guyana
Ironing's a deadly bore
It really is depressing
And when the iron is a dud
It's even more distressing

(This one isn't exactly a dud, but it definitely doesn't live up to my expectations.)

This one seemed like quite a deal
The cord retracts inside it
No dangling wire to trip you up
Because the iron hides it

(A useful feature is the automatic retractable cord reel. You pull out only as much cord as you need, and it winds itself back into the base with the push of a button)

Three steam settings at a touch
There's dry and high and low
It shuts off when it's not in use
Completely apropos

(This model features one button steam settings, and although it's not listed in the manual, automatic shut-off)

A button shoots a misty spray
For when you need things wet
A window shows the water line
That's plain as you can get

The soleplate's coated not to stick
The dial ain't hard to read
From all the specs it seems like this
Is very good indeed

(However)

I filled the iron as they said
I waited for the light
But when I placed it on my shirt
It wasn't watertight

Without a word, or "by your leave"
It leaked from where you fill it
And not until I was half done
Did it refuse to spill it

It's rather heavy at the base
It's neither cute nor sleek
Thank goodness that it's only used
For two hours per week.

Summary: Not the best iron I've used, but with some useful features. The instruction manual lacks troubleshooting suggestions, and although this iron gets hot, it just isn't that cool.
Cheap Iron - Performs like One

2008-01-22, ,

I used this iron for a couple years. The retractable cord feature works sporadically - I usually end up feeding the cord in manually. The iron has never gotten very hot and it leaks a little bit. Last week, it completely died, so I'm in the market for a newer, better iron.

Not too hot

2007-09-16, Indigo, New York City

I liked the retractable cord feature on this iron, which did work well. However, I found it didn't get quite as hot as I'd like it to, making it difficult for ironing fabric like Linens.

Great product for the price - has served me well for over 5 years

2006-12-12, Victoria Barcenas, Oakland, California, USA

This Panasonic NIG10NR steam iron has served me well for over 5 years. You may choose to spray water or steam. The retractable cord makes it easy to store away. It's easy to fill water in you don't have to get it out of the iron. I like that it has light to let you know it's on or off. It did not burn any of my clothes. I just let it stand if I didn't use it. It has worked real well until 2 days ago when I did something I may have pulled the cord so hard that ended its life. I thought "I am buying Panasonic iron again". I tried to look again at Longs Drug Store where I purchased it, however, they don't sell Panasonic irons anymore. I searched and found it at Amazon's. However, I have seen an array of Panasonic irons on sale at Amazon's and have seen a 2-5 star review on Panasonic 3-way Auto Shut-off Steam/Dry Iron. So I thought I would like to try and ordered that one, after all it is Panasonic. I just wanted to share my experience (it didn't have any review, so I am the first one to share!)with Panasonic NIG10NR Steam Iron. That for a great price you can't go wrong (I mean, 5-some bucks a year is not bad)!

I like Panasonic as a Brand

2006-06-27, D. Reynolds, Houston, TX

I've had this iron for several years, probably about 5. Never had any problems. Works well. I've just dropped it so many times; the base with the retracting cord has taken the brunt of the abuse. I broke the retraction and am now searching for a replacement part or service since the iron's main function is quite serviceable.

i like it

2009-04-21, Cindy Lee, DC

I did not like this kind of work previously. But when I was at a hotel a few months agao, by chance I used it, I like it immediately. I remember by heart the name and decide to buy one.
Then I searched online and find this iron is the best (value/price). And it happened to be sunbeam that I used at the hotel! So I ordered immediately. Up to now, I like it. The only thing is I still cannot work efficiently. I might need more instruction/assistance to help me how to go to details (corners/sleeves). It takes me hours of work but I still could not have a perfect sleeve after I work on it. But in general, it works great!
Thanks sunbeam! It helps me to be more confident because I am trying to be a good housewife since I ordered it.
Great iron, however...

2009-03-20, C. Maher, San Diego, CA

the iron shipped just never worked (it didn't heat). I sent it back and was credited promptly. I bought the same iron, updated model, at a local store. It's a really nice iron at a great price.

So far, so good....no dripping!!

2009-02-18, S. Bishop, Marietta, Ga

Had one month, so far no dripping which is the main problem with so many irons. Hope it lasts.

Product Reliability: Previous Sunbeam Iron Lasted 40 years

2009-02-07, R. Crane, Washington, DC United States

I had a Sunbeam iron for about 40 years. Never had a problem with it until recently when the cord started to fray. Who ever heard of an appliance that was so reliable and lasted that long? Thus, when I started researching irons and saw all the negative comments about recent (Black and Decker, Rowenta) products, I searched for Sunbeam and bought this model.

It is an updated version of what I bought years ago. After so many years, it has all kinds of improvements that make it a pleasure to use. As described by other reviewers, the features are easy to use and ironing itself is easier. The only drawback is the cord. It is awkward to wind it up after use, there is no feature/hook to wrap it around both ends of the iron. The manual recommends winding it loosely around the heel, but there is nothing to hold it in place. This could be improved.

Otherwise, this is a superb iron, and if it is as good as its predecessor, it should last a long time.

Daily Workhorse For a Great Price

2009-01-28, dream factory, Triangulum, M33

After many years our Rowenta had finally given up it's last breath of steam-ability. Indeed it was a good iron, but we checked around for something reliable at a more affordable price. This Sunbeam 4238 (4268) iron proved a favorable candidate. We have had this tough reliable Iron for about one year now. Yes it has lived up to it's promice. Indeed a 'Professional" Iron with all the neccessary features one needs to complete the daily ritual of ironing.

Wide exact (nonclogging) front end spray.
Anti-Calcium system.
See through top total view large water resevouir.
Easy to select fabric button.
Easy glide 'MicroGlide' large Soleplate.
Amazing steam-ability.

A great buy at Amazon's price or even better deal at Sam's/Costco club.

Better than ironing, after learning to spread items smoothly before pressing. Unit had some orange-colored water in steam head, maybe from testing or possibly a returned unit? The SF-620 Compact Steam Press is the right size for me . . . compact, easy to store and carry.
